Background & context

Red telephone kiosks designed by the architect Giles Gilbert Scott stood in almost every British town and village from the late 1920s onwards. The blue police boxes gave constables on the beat a telephone line to the station and a bit of shelter, while pillar boxes had been around since the 19th century. In the summer of 1940, with a German invasion expected, they were part of daily life for the Local Defence Volunteers, soon renamed the Home Guard.

On the tabletop

Place the three pieces on street corners, outside the post office or on the village green to turn any set of houses into a British settlement. In Bolt Action they work well as objectives, for example when one side has to secure a town's lines of communication and the other has to cut them. They suit Home Guard scenarios against a German landing in England particularly well.
