    Product details

    Background & context

Anyone who drove tanks in North Africa spent more time at the hull than in action. Sand ate air filters, tracks and engines, and spare parts only arrived after thousands of kilometres of supply route. Improvised repairs were therefore part of the crews' daily routine, and fuel was scraped together in drums and jerrycans wherever possible. The men wore anything from field cap and goggles to short tropical trousers as they worked, since regulations counted for little in the desert.

    On the tabletop

These five Afrika Korps men are not in the hatches but at work beside their tank: one carries jerrycans, one holds tools, one shoulders the cleaning rod for the gun. With the included fuel drum you can build a refuelling or maintenance scene in the desert. On the table the group works as a supply point you have to hold, or as an addition to a large vehicle base.
