    German infantrymen in a typical tank-rider pose - hitching a ride on tanks, as was common practice on the Eastern Front and in other combat zones. These 3D-printed resin figures can be placed on Rubicon and other 28mm tanks, adding authenticity to tank scenes on the gaming table - especially for Panzergrenadier and Sturmpioniere units.

    Hintergrund & Einordnung

    Riding on tanks (known as "Tank Desant" in Soviet terminology, often simply referred to as "Aufsitzen" in German parlance) was a common infantry practice in World War II, allowing them to keep pace with armored units. While the German Panzergrenadier doctrine originally stipulated that infantry would accompany tanks in half-tracks (Sd.Kfz. 251 "Hanomag"), a persistent shortage of these vehicles often forced units to resort to riding on their own tanks. Especially on the Eastern Front, German infantrymen riding on Panzer III, Panzer IV, or StuG III tanks became a familiar sight of maneuver warfare. In defensive battles during the late war, this practice was also used to quickly move stormtroopers from one hotspot to another. However, the position on the tank was extremely exposed - under fire, entire storm groups could be wiped out at once.
