    Product details

    Background & context

German winter equipment arrived too late on the Eastern Front. In the first winter of the war, 1941/42, the Landser froze before Moscow in improvised layers of blankets and requisitioned civilian clothing, and only afterwards were padded jackets and reversible suits issued widely. Later, snow accompanied practically every campaign: Stalingrad, Kharkov, East Prussia, then in December 1944 the Ardennes. Anyone playing these battles on the table needs figures in greatcoat and cap rather than field tunic.

    On the tabletop

These six infantrymen in winter kit add support and command poses to Set 1. One carries a Panzerschreck, another a machine gun with belts slung over him, and a third scans the ground ahead with binoculars. That gives you a winter squad with its own anti-tank weapon that engages approaching vehicles from cover. Because of the Panzerschreck it belongs in games set in 1944 and 1945, on the Eastern Front as well as in the Ardennes.
