    Hintergrund & Einordnung

The German Africa Corps deployed the same special weapons in the North African theater of war as in Europe, adapted to the extreme climatic conditions. Heavy weapon teams with the MG34 (later MG42), the Panzerbüchse 39 (PzB 39) against light British tanks, and the 5cm light mortar 36 (leGrW 36) provided fire support at the platoon level - indispensable for the fight against the well-equipped British Commonwealth forces. While the PzB 39 was no longer sufficient for medium tanks like the Matilda II or Crusader, it remained the DAK infantry’s only portable anti-tank option until the introduction of the Panzerschreck and Panzerfaust from 1942/43. In the desert sand, these special weapons presented particular challenges - sand penetrated all mechanisms, heat distorted metal, and propellants reacted differently than in a European climate.

    Einsatz im Spiel

DAK Special Weapon Infantry offers heavy support options for Afrika Korps forces in Bolt Action. The various weapon options - MG, anti-tank rifle, grenade launcher - represent standard weapon teams at platoon strength and ideally complement regular DAK infantry sets. Perfect for all North Africa scenarios from Tobruk to El Alamein.
