    Product details

    Background & context

From 1941 to 1943 the German Afrika Korps faced the Commonwealth forces in Libya and Egypt. The infantry wore light-coloured tropical uniform: a shirt with patch pockets, shorts or long trousers, and with them the tropical cap, the pith helmet or, in action, the steel helmet. It was armed as it was everywhere else: the Karabiner 98k for the bulk of the men, the MP 40 for the squad leader, the MG 34 as the mainstay of the squad. Tobruk, Gazala and El Alamein became the names by which this campaign is measured to this day.

    On the tabletop

These five resin figures form the core of an Afrika Korps infantry squad for actions in Libya and Egypt. Three riflemen fire their Karabiner 98k, the gunner carries the MG 34 that the squad is built around, and the squad leader has a submachine gun and a stick grenade. Add figures from Set 2 to bring the squad up to full strength. Scenarios around Tobruk, Gazala or El Alamein suit them well.
