    Product details

    Background & context

Walter Borchers belonged to that generation of pilots who gained their first air combat experience in heavy destroyer aircraft during the early phase of the war before transitioning to specialized night fighting. With the shift to the defense of the Reich, night fighting developed into one of the most demanding areas of the German Luftwaffe - technically highly complex and psychologically challenging. In this environment, Borchers became one of the most effective crew members of his unit, achieving a significant portion of his kills against heavy American long-range bombers. His career ended shortly before the war's conclusion when he fell victim to a British night fighter - a fate shared by many experienced night fighter pilots of that period.

    On the tabletop

This ace pack brings Walter Borchers' Ju 88C into your Luftwaffe for Blood Red Skies, with its own ace card and two ace skill cards. Borchers first flew the Bf 110 with ZG 76, then from late 1941 the Ju 88C as a night fighter defending the Reich, and by March 1945 he had 46 victories, including several American four-engined bombers. So you use the aircraft as a bomber hunter, well supported by a Ju 88C squadron.
