Product details

Background & context

The Atlantic Wall was made up of standardised bunker types, the Regelbauten, which were poured to the same plans from Norway to the Spanish border. The R677 was a casemate for a heavy gun with a field of fire over the beach, typically a 7.5 cm anti-tank gun, supplemented by light anti-aircraft guns in 2 cm or 3.7 cm. On 6 June 1944 Allied assault parties had to knock out exactly such positions at point-blank range, because bombing and naval gunfire did not penetrate the concrete.

On the tabletop

The bunker built to the R677 pattern served on the Atlantic Wall against both tanks and aircraft. In Bolt Action you place a 7.5 cm anti-tank gun or a light flak gun such as the 2 cm or 3.7 cm inside, since the roof lifts off and the rear doors open. For the attackers it becomes an objective they must reach along narrow approaches and break into. It suits landing scenarios in Normandy.
