Product details

Background & context

Confederate States infantry formed the backbone of Southern warfare in the American Civil War. Regiments typically consisted of ten companies of 100 men each but were rapidly decimated by combat, disease, and desertion. Unlike the North, the Confederacy focused on integrating new recruits directly into experienced units, allowing recruits to benefit from the veterans' knowledge and keeping the regiments combat-ready for longer. Despite chronic material shortages, Confederate infantry proved to be a tenacious adversary on all theaters of war.

On the tabletop

Three regiments of 100 men each, three cannons and three mounted commanders make up a Confederate brigade for American Civil War battles in Epic Battles. You deploy the regiments in line, the guns give them fire support and the commanders lead the brigade. Unlike the North, the South sent raw recruits to existing regiments, where they learned from more experienced fighters. That way you reinforce your Confederate army with a complete formation.
