Product details

Background & context

The militia was the uncomfortable truth of this war. Men who turned up with their own muskets, simply went home when their term of service ran out and ran from the first volley at Camden in 1780 - the same arm that at Cowpens in 1781 fired two volleys and withdrew behind the line as planned, whereupon Tarleton rode straight into the trap. Anyone bringing the War of Independence to the gaming table needs both faces of it.

On the tabletop

This red plastic sprue for Black Powder Epic Battles provides regular infantry, militia and a cannon with crew for the American War of Independence. The line infantry can take a second standard bearer as an option. The regulars form your battle line while the cannon strengthens your battery. With the militia you can recreate both sides of its record, from the collapse at Camden in 1780 to the planned volleys at Cowpens in 1781. Bases are not included.
