Background & context

Diese Soldaten gehören in die Jahrzehnte, in denen Ägypten die Hyksos aus dem Delta warf und anschließend nach Norden ausgriff. Kamose und Ahmose I. führten die Kämpfe noch im eigenen Land, Thutmosis III. trug sie bis nach Syrien. Seine Belagerung von Megiddo um 1457 v. Chr. gilt als früheste Schlacht, deren Verlauf halbwegs nachvollziehbar überliefert ist, aufgezeichnet vom Schreiber Tjaneni und in Karnak in Stein gehauen.

On the tabletop

These eight foot soldiers with spear, axe and shield are the regular close fighters of the early New Kingdom, without armour or helmets. In Hail Caesar they form the close-combat infantry that you place in the battle line beside your army's archers. Men like these fought under Kamose, Ahmose I and Thutmose III, for instance at the Battle of Megiddo against the Mitanni, Syrians and Canaanites. Several packs let you build larger units.
