Background & context

The 18th, 19th, and 20th Dynasties of the Egyptian New Kingdom (1550-1077 BC) produced a series of warlike pharaohs who led their armies into Nubia, Canaan, and Syria. During the Late Bronze Age, Egyptian chariots were built more massively: they were given sides made of animal hide or even bronze scale armor, bow cases and quivers on the flanks, and armored horses. The chariot was expensive to produce and often elaborately decorated or gilded-a symbol of power and prestige for the Egyptian warrior elite.

On the tabletop

A chariot, two horses, a driver and a fighter with bow and javelins make up the third Egyptian chariot of the range. In your New Kingdom army for Hail Caesar it belongs to the chariot units at the front of the army, attacking the enemy with arrows and spears. The campaigns of the 18th to 20th Dynasties led to Nubia, Canaan and Syria, for example to the battle of Megiddo under Thutmose III. With sets I and II your chariots get different crews.
