Background & context

The Early and Middle Bronze Age of Mesopotamia (ca. 2350-1600 BCE) was an era of powerful city-states and emerging empires. After the collapse of the Ur Empire, Amorite warlords seized power over large parts of the Near East and founded kingdoms from Babylon to Mari. Rulers like Hammurabi of Babylon or Naram-Sin of Akkad shaped this period as military leaders and legislators. The military leadership of these armies lay in the hands of charismatic kings and their personal guard, who formed the backbone of every Bronze Age fighting force.

On the tabletop

This command set leads Early and Middle Bronze Age armies in Hail Caesar: Amorite kingdoms, desert nomads, Later Akkadian and Neo-Sumerian city-states, later highlanders and Elamites. The figures represent Naram-Sin, Hammurabi, Shamshi-Adad, Rim-Sin, Ishbi-Irra, Zimri-Lim and Ibbi-Sin or Shulgi, along with a highland or early Hittite king and a nomad chief. In this era the ruler commanded the army himself, so you place the figures at the head of your divisions.
