Background & context

Ein Contubernium war die kleinste Einheit des römischen Heeres: acht Mann, die sich ein Zelt, einen Maulesel und den Kochtopf teilten. Diesen Zuschnitt hat Warlord für die Blister übernommen. Die Bogenschützen der Westprovinzen sind weit weniger bekannt als die syrischen Spezialisten, gehörten aber in Gallien, Germanien und Britannien zum festen Bestand der Auxiliarkohorten - und trugen die Kettenrüstung ihrer Kameraden im Fußvolk.

On the tabletop

Archers in mail shirts were raised in the western provinces of the Empire, such as Gaul, Germania and Britain. In Hail Caesar you deploy the eight figures on a flank or in the space in front of your legion's shield line and target enemy formations from there. With eight men, a contubernium was the smallest unit of the Roman army, and that is exactly how many archers the pack contains. The poses are mixed at random.
