Background & context

Die Zenturie war die kleinste Einheit, die eigenständig funktionierte: rund achtzig Mann, ein Zenturio, ein Optio und genug Handwerk an Bord, um ein Lager aus dem Boden zu stampfen. Zur Ausstattung gehörte auch ein Scorpion, ein Torsionsgeschütz von der Größe einer Werkbank, das Bolzen mit flacher Flugbahn weit über die Köpfe der eigenen Leute schoss. Die Legionäre selbst kämpften in Segmentpanzer mit Pilum und Gladius, und ihre Stärke lag darin, dass jede Zenturie genauso ausgebildet war wie jede andere.

On the tabletop

Every century took a scorpion along, and this box combines both: 20 Imperial legionaries in segmented armour and the bolt thrower with its two-man crew. In Hail Caesar the infantry stands in the battle line with pilum or gladius while the scorpion shoots at long range from the second line. That gives you close combat and a missile weapon from one box. Spare helmets, shields and waterslide transfers for the shields are included.
