    Hintergrund & Einordnung

    With the integration of the Greek city-states into the Roman Republic starting in 146 BC, the Romans adopted advanced Greek military technology-most notably the ballista, a torsion-powered siege engine. Further developed into a highly precise weapon, it was capable of hitting individual soldiers at long distances. Besides its physical impact, the ballista also had an enormous psychological effect on the enemy and became an indispensable part of imperial legions.

    Early Imperial Romans: In Hail Caesar, the Ballista serves as a war machine or artillery support for Early Imperial Roman forces and Roman expansion. In the game, it controls lines of fire, forces enemy formations to move, and supports its own line from a safe position. The model needs infantry protection because its value lies primarily in positional play, range, and scenario pressure.
