    Hintergrund & Einordnung

    The armies of the Old and Middle Kingdoms of Egypt existed before the introduction of the chariot and relied entirely on infantry. The foot soldiers were divided into two groups: the professional retainer warriors (Ahauty) and the conscripts, who were levied in times of war from the individual administrative districts of Egypt, the nomes. The close-quarters fighters - known as Menfat or shock troops - formed closed units together with archers, with the archers first softening up the enemy before the spear fighters advanced. These figures are also suitable for the intermediate periods as well as the early Second Intermediate Period up to the native 16th Dynasty of Upper Egypt.

    Einsatz im Spiel

    Early Egyptian Spearmen represent a solid spear line for Egyptian armies of the Old and Middle Kingdoms in Hail Caesar. In the game, they stabilize the main battle line, hold ground, and tie up opponents, while archers and lighter troops protect the flanks. The unit performs best in formation and is particularly suitable for Bronze Age armies before the widespread introduction of the chariot.
