    Hintergrund & Einordnung

The four-wheeled battlewagon was the most powerful weapon of the early Sumerian city-states in the 3rd millennium BC. Pulled by donkeys or donkey-onager hybrids, these heavy four-wheeled vehicles served as shock troops on the battlefields of Mesopotamia and Syria. City-states such as Ur, Lagash, Kish, and Umma in Sumer, as well as Mari and Ebla in Syria, employed such battlewagons in their bitter struggles against each other. The famous Standard of Ur impressively depicts these vehicles in battle formation. The crew consisted of a driver and a javelinman or commander, who together combined firepower and leadership.

    Einsatz im Spiel

The Early 4-Horse Chariot I is used in Hail Caesar as a chariot or wagon combat element for Mesopotamian, Syrian, or Elamite Bronze Age city-state and palace armies. In the game, it combines movement, ranged or close combat options, and psychological pressure on flanks or light troops. Chariot models should be interpreted as mobile support and scenario elements, not simply as normal cavalry.
