Product details

Background & context

Anyone who arrived in Normandy as a soldier in 1944 quickly learned to hate the landscape: the bocage of centuries-old stone banks and hedges, in which every meadow was a fortress and a tank could not see a hundred metres. In between lay villages of grey limestone, whose ruins shaped the image of that summer after the bombardments from Caen to Saint-Lô, and at every crossroads a forest of signposts that the Germans had put up and the Allies had pasted over. Exactly these set pieces are in this box: the setting in which a Sherman, Panther or Kübelwagen really becomes a story.

On the tabletop

These accessories place a 1:35 vehicle in Normandy in the summer of 1944. Run the stone walls along the edge of the scene as field boundaries, use the road signs and telephone poles to mark a village street, and let the ruined house form the backdrop for a tank or figures. All parts come unpainted. Greys and ochres for the limestone plus a little dust tie them into the ground of your scene.
