Product details

Background & context

Desert tables have a well-known problem: they look great and play terribly, because nothing blocks line of sight. Rock formations are the classic answer, in Western settings just as in desert warfare. Weathered sandstone arches like those in the American Southwest take millennia of wind and sand erosion to form - on the gaming table they take on the role that houses and woods play elsewhere. That is why the set works from antiquity to the Second World War.

On the tabletop

A desert table usually lacks anything that breaks line of sight, and that is exactly what these eight painted resin rocks are for. The tall rock with its 22 x 22 cm footprint and the wide one at 27 x 23 cm take over the role of buildings, with a whole unit able to stand out of sight behind them. Put the two large and two small rock arches on the flanks and the two small rocks in between as single pieces of cover.
