Product details

Background & context

The New Jersey concrete barrier was developed in the 1950s in the US state of the same name as a median barrier for highways. Its wide foot and sloped face steer vehicles that hit it back onto the roadway. After the truck bomb attacks in Beirut in 1983, American embassies and bases increasingly secured their approaches with such sections. The concrete blocks thus became a familiar sight at checkpoints of the late Cold War.

On the tabletop

Line up the four sections across a road and leave only a narrow gap, and you have a checkpoint outside a barracks or on a border road. On the gaming table they serve as low cover for infantry and as an obstacle for wheeled vehicles. The matt white resin sands easily and takes paint well. With a grey base tone, dirt and warning stripes in red and white or yellow, you give them signs of use.
