Product details

Background & context

The Atlantic Wall ran from Norway to the Spanish border and consisted of several thousand concrete structures built to standardised Regelbau types. The 600 series housed guns: R612 and R680 were casemates for field guns and anti-tank guns that swept the beach from the flank instead of firing head-on out to sea. That is exactly what made them dangerous, because little could be seen from the water. Many of these boxes still stand in Normandy today.

On the tabletop

This coastal bunker, built to the R612 and R680 patterns, is the centrepiece of an Atlantic Wall position in Bolt Action. Because the roof lifts off and the rear doors open, you can put the gun crew inside and have assault troops attack the entrance. Historically these bunkers housed a 7.5 cm anti-tank gun or a 10.5 cm field howitzer covering the Normandy beaches. Add dragon's teeth and wire and you have a landing scenario.
