Product details

Background & context

Classical here means the period between the Persian Wars and Alexander, when the city states fought their wars mainly against one another. Each citizen assembled his own panoply - helmet, cuirass, shield, spear - and those with more money wore better equipment. That is why a phalanx never looked as if it came out of a catalogue, and why it is worth equipping individual models differently from the rest of the rank.

On the tabletop

Two Classical Greek bodies with a choice of heads and weapons add to a hoplite phalanx in Hail Caesar. Between the Persian Wars and Alexander the city states fought mostly against each other, and every citizen put together his own equipment. This sprue therefore lets you equip individual men differently from the rest of the rank on purpose. It also fills two missing places in a unit.
