Description

Four storeys of facade and nothing more, and that is exactly the trick. The MDF kit stands at the table edge as a row of house fronts, blocks lines of sight and eats up hardly any playing area in the process.

What's included

• 1 building facade over four storeys (MDF, laser-cut)
• 1 set of assembly instructions (paper)

Material: MDF

SKU: SLC0044

Product details

Background & context

After heavy air raids often only the front wall of whole streets was left standing: burnt-out walls with empty window openings and nothing behind them any more. These rows of facades shaped the appearance of German and Italian cities from 1943 and became a symbol of the bombing war. For attacking infantry they were deceptive: concealment yes, protection hardly, and liable to collapse at any moment.

On the tabletop

A four-storey facade with no building behind it takes up very little space yet gives your city table height. Stand it along the edge or a street, where it breaks sight lines across the table. Fronts like this, with empty window openings, shaped many German and Italian cities after the air raids from 1943 onward. The laser-cut MDF kit comes with instructions and matches the other ruins in the range.
