Product details

Background & context

Japan's tank design lagged behind in the Second World War, and by 1944 the Type 97 Chi-Ha was barely competitive against Allied medium tanks. In the Konflikt '47 timeline, Rift technology turns that picture around: from the data Germany passes on to its ally, Japanese scientists develop a whole family of rapid-firing Compression weapons. The Chi-Ha with the larger Shinhoto turret becomes the test bed for the first guns of this kind. At the end of 1946 the armed production variant gets under way, and the old medium tank can suddenly keep up again.

On the tabletop

Japan's Rift scientists used German data to develop a family of rapid-firing compression weapons, and the Chi-Ha with the Shinhoto turret was their first carrier. In Konflikt '47 you build it with either a 47 mm anti-tank gun or a light compression cannon, and both let it compete with heavier Allied tanks. In service since late 1946, it is the medium tank of your Japanese list. Decals and assembly instructions are included.
