Product details

Background & context

Around 380 Char B1 bis rolled off the lines at Renault, Schneider, AMX and others by the armistice in June 1940. The 60 mm thick front stood up to practically everything the Wehrmacht could muster in anti-tank weapons at the time; what remained was the 8.8cm Flak or a lucky hit on the radiator grille in the side. It was not the German guns that finished the tank off but lack of fuel and orders that arrived too late in the wrong place.

On the tabletop

With 60 mm of frontal armour the Char B1 bis withstands most German anti-tank weapons of 1940. In Flames of War you field the five plastic tanks as a heavy French tank platoon. Turn the 75 mm hull gun on infantry and positions, and the 47 mm turret gun on enemy tanks. Used together, the platoon is hard for your opponent to stop, and the scale is 15 mm.
