Product details

Background & context

The Centurion arrived in 1945, too late for the Second World War, and went on to shape four decades of tank design. British designers had abandoned the division between fast cruiser and tough infantry tank and packed both into one vehicle: sloped armour, powerful Meteor engine, stabilised main gun. In Korea the 8th King's Royal Irish Hussars drove their Mk IIIs up slopes that nobody would have thought a vehicle of that mass capable of. Against the T-34/85s of Chinese and North Korean units it was clearly superior in firepower.

On the tabletop

The Centurion Mk III is a heavy British tank for games set in the Korean War. With sloped armour, a more powerful engine and a stabilised main gun it clearly outgunned the T-34/85s of Chinese and North Korean units. In Korea the 8th King's Royal Irish Hussars drove their Mk IIIs up steep slopes. In British lists it takes on enemy tanks, and you put the metal crew figure in the turret hatch.
