Für die Stämme Galliens und Britanniens war Krieg vor allem eine Frage des Ansehens. Wer sich als Erster in die feindliche Linie warf, gewann Ruhm, notfalls halbnackt und nur mit Schild und Schwert. Römische Autoren beschrieben diesen Sturmangriff mit einer Mischung aus Spott und Respekt: Er brach jede Formation, die nicht standhielt, verpuffte aber, sobald die erste Welle abgefangen war.

On the tabletop

These three fanatics take their place at the head of your Celtic war band in Hail Caesar and drive it forward in the charge. On the table they belong to the units you send into close combat early. Glory went to whoever reached the enemy first, and Roman writers described this onslaught with a mixture of mockery and respect. Whoever withstood it had often already won, while those who gave way were overrun. The figures are metal.
