    Hintergrund & Einordnung

    The Scorpio was a smaller variant of the ballista and was considered one of the most accurate weapons of antiquity-in skilled hands, it could precisely target individual enemy soldiers. Each centuria of Caesar's legions was assigned one such bolt shooter, which provided the Roman battle lines with considerable firepower. Caesar's legions used the Scorpio both in open field battles and during sieges to disrupt enemy formations and dislodge defenders from fortifications. This weapon was a symbol of Rome's superior military technology in the late 1st century BCE.

    Einsatz im Spiel

    The Caesarian Roman Scorpion serves in Hail Caesar as a war machine or artillery support for Roman legions and auxiliary troops of the late Republic and the Gallic Wars. In the game, it controls lines of fire, forces enemy formations to move, and supports its own line from a safe position. The model needs protection from infantry because its value lies primarily in positional play, range, and scenario pressure.
