    Hintergrund & Einordnung

    The Reggiane Re.2002 Ariete was an Italian fighter-bomber characterized by a considerable payload capacity and used in the ground attack role. The Regia Aeronautica aircraft proved itself, among other things, in amphibious operations in the Mediterranean. However, the manufacturer's production capacities were limited, so only about 225 machines were manufactured in total. After the Italian armistice in 1943, remaining examples fell into the hands of both the Allied Co-Belligerent Air Force and the German Luftwaffe, which continued to use captured aircraft.
