Product details

Background & context

The Prussian cavalry was one of the most effective branches of the armed forces during the anti-Napoleonic Coalition Wars. Heavy dragoons served as shock troops in direct combat, while the light hussar regiments handled reconnaissance and pursuit. The Uhlans, armed with lances, were considered particularly versatile cavalrymen - they rode, among other things, to rescue Blücher at the Battle of Ligny. The brigade was supplemented by light Jäger infantry, which operated as a mobile skirmish line, and by horse artillery, which was adapted to the mobility of the cavalry units.

On the tabletop

Three sprues make up a Prussian cavalry brigade in 13.5 mm Black Powder games, with three bases each of hussars, uhlans and dragoons, three bases of skirmishing Jäger and a horse battery of three 6-pounders. The hussars scout for your divisions, while the dragoons deliver the charge as heavy cavalry. The Jäger fan out ahead of the main army, and the battery quickly unlimbers wherever fire is needed. Bases and a full-colour flag sheet are included.
