Product details

Background & context

Plancenoit lay in the rear of the French deployment and was therefore the sorest point of 18 June 1815. When von Bülow's IV Corps came up from the east in the afternoon, Napoleon had to send first the Young Guard and later battalions of the Old Guard there - troops he was short of in the centre. The village changed hands several times, with fighting between houses, garden walls and in the churchyard. By evening the Prussians held the place and the French line of retreat lay open.

On the tabletop

The church of Plancenoit with its cemetery walls and gravestones forms the village centre that was so bitterly contested on the afternoon of 18 June 1815. On your Epic Battles table, place it behind the French position, where von Bülow's Prussian IV Korps attacks. The walls and churchyard give the defender cover, and in Black Powder Epic Battles the French player has to commit the Young and Old Guard to hold the village.
