Product details

Background & context

On 18 June 1815 men of the 1st Battalion, 95th Rifles held a sandpit east of the main road, almost level with La Haye Sainte. Armed with Baker rifles, they and the King's German Legion in the farm could catch any French column trying to pass between the two positions. When d'Erlon's corps made its great attack in the early afternoon, the riflemen had to give up the pit. The defenders blocked the gate and approaches of the farm with whatever came to hand.

On the tabletop

The sandpit sits opposite La Haye Sainte on the Brussels road and holds a unit of riflemen such as the 95th Rifles, firing into the flank of columns as they come up. Put the barricade in front of the farm gate or across the road to slow the attackers down. Together with the farmhouse itself this gives you a sector in Black Powder Epic Battles that the French have to take one step at a time.
