    Product details

    Background & context

The Scottish Highland regiments were among the most distinctive military units in the British Army during the Napoleonic Wars. Their characteristic tartan kilts and bearskin caps made them unmistakable on any battlefield, and their reputation as tough infantrymen had been cemented since the campaigns on the Iberian Peninsula. At Quatre Bras and Waterloo, the Highlanders stood firm under heavy pressure. The riflemen of the 95th Rifles were at the forefront of modern light infantry: equipped with the rifled Baker rifle, they were considered the most accurate marksmen in the Allied army - the French feared their precision. The Royal Artillery supplemented the brigade with indirect fire and formed the backbone of British defensive positions at Waterloo.

    On the tabletop

With the 42nd Black Watch, the 79th Cameron and the 92nd Gordon Highlanders you field the three Highland regiments of Quatre Bras and Waterloo in Black Powder Epic Battles, each 80 men strong with a mounted brigade commander. The 24 men of the 95th with Baker rifles skirmish ahead of the line and can also be painted as the German defenders of La Haye Sainte. Three Royal Artillery 5.5-inch howitzers fire over your own troops.
