    Hintergrund & Einordnung

    The Bf 110 Zerstörer was designed as a heavy fighter, intended to engage both enemy bombers and fighter formations. Over the course of the war, the type proved particularly effective in ground attack and as a night fighter, while often reaching its limits in air superiority combat against agile single-seaters. Wolfgang Schenk was one of those pilots who flew the aircraft from the early campaigns into the Eastern War, gaining experience in both fighter and ground attack roles. His missions against Soviet forces made him one of the most renowned Zerstörer leaders of the Luftwaffe.
