Built at the English Electric factory in Preston, this Mk I developed a mind of its own during Operation Cavalier near Antwerp: it appeared out of nowhere, fought alongside Allied troops in their most perilous moments, and then disappeared as mysteriously as it came - the first British hero in Konflikt '47.

In the Konflikt '47 universe, 'B for Bertie' was built at the English Electric plant in Preston like any other Mk-I Automaton - yet his destiny was to be different. During his first mission as part of Operation Cavalier near Antwerp on June 9, 1946, Bertie's formation was surprised by a heavy Axis tank-mech unit. In the chaos of the fighting, Bertie disappeared from the sight of his human companions - and after the battle ended, both the Axis and Bertie were gone. Since then, he has appeared sporadically on Allied battlefields, intervening in the most crucial moments, only to disappear just as suddenly.
