Product details

Background & context

Board fences were a common sight in the villages and small towns of central Europe and France, especially where sawn timber was easy to come by. They divided vegetable plots, yards and paddocks and kept small livestock where it belonged. In the Napoleonic campaigns as in the Second World War, such fences gave little protection from fire, but they broke up close-order formations and forced troops to pause and reform.

On the tabletop

Run the sections along farm tracks or around a yard so advancing units can no longer cross the table freely. Every fence that has to be climbed costs time and creates choke points you can cover with fire. Because the pieces vary, you can lay straight runs, corners and deliberate gaps as passages. In Bolt Action they suit fights over farms, in Black Powder the farmsteads on the edge of the battle line.
