    Hintergrund & Einordnung

    The Gallic cavalry was among the most powerful mounted units in the ancient world. As armored noble riders, they formed the elite of Gallic tribal armies and were renowned for their bravery and daring. During the Punic Wars, Gallic horsemen served as valuable mercenaries in Carthaginian service-including in Hannibal's army, where they played a crucial role in the annihilation of Roman legions. At the same time, they fought against Caesar's legions in the Gallic Wars and also appeared as allies of Roman armies in the fight against Germanic tribes. The armored noble riders depicted in this set represent the wealthy warrior aristocracy of Gallic society.

    Einsatz im Spiel

    Ancient Gallic Cavalry is used in Hail Caesar and Clash of Spears as light cavalry for Gallic, British, or Celtic forces fighting against Rome. In the game, they perform reconnaissance, flank protection, pursuit, and intercept vulnerable targets. Their value lies in their mobility and ability to pressure weak points, not in sustained frontal assaults against organized lines.
