Product details

Background & context

The Celtic fanatics were among the most formidable warriors of the ancient world. Naked except for their shields and imbued with religious fervor, they charged roaring into close combat, striking fear into even seasoned legionaries. Their reputation as unpredictable berserkers was known far beyond Gaul. As part of the Celtic tribal armies, they formed the most aggressive spearhead in attacks on enemy battle lines.

On the tabletop

Armed with nothing but shield and weapon, the eight Celtic fanatics charge headlong at the enemy line. In Hail Caesar and Clash of Spears you place them at the head of a Gallic or British army so that they are the first into close combat. Their charge hits the enemy before the rest of the warriors arrive. They are modelled on warriors like the Gaesatae, who fought in the front rank at Telamon. As every pack is a random mix, each group looks a little different.
