    Hintergrund & Einordnung

    The Amorites - also known as Martu, Amurru or Aamu - were nomadic peoples who were integrated into the city-state armies of Mesopotamia as levies and auxiliary troops during the Early and Middle Bronze Age. In early Babylonian armies, they were called Sabum Qallatum and formed a significant part of the light infantry. Their figures are armed with spears, javelins, and axes and carry the typical Amorite shield, which consisted of an animal hide stretched over a wooden cross-frame. They served in the armies of the Akkadians, Sumerians, Hyksos, and the Amorite kingdoms themselves.

    Einsatz im Spiel

    Amorite Levy Infantry III are used in Hail Caesar as mobile close combat or retinue infantry for Mesopotamian, Syrian, or Elamite Bronze Age city-state and palace armies. In the game, the unit occupies terrain, supports the main line, and attacks vulnerable targets, without taking on the role of a rigid spear or hoplite formation. They work best in conjunction with missile troops, chariots, or heavier troops, so that their mobility and close combat pressure are not wasted in isolation.
