    Hintergrund & Einordnung

    The Amorites - also known as Martu, Amurru, or Aamu - were nomadic tribes of the Near East who played a crucial role in the history of Mesopotamia during the early and middle Bronze Age. As levies and auxiliary troops, they were conscripted into the city-state armies of the Akkadians, Sumerians, and early Babylonians. In Babylonian sources, they were referred to as Sabum Qallatum (light troops) and formed a flexible component of these ancient armies. Their typical armament included spears, javelins, and axes, as well as the characteristic Amorite shield.

    Einsatz im Spiel

    Amorite Levy Infantry II is used in Hail Caesar as mobile close-combat or retinues infantry for Mesopotamian, Syrian or Elamite Bronze Age city-state and palace armies. In the game, the unit occupies terrain, supports the main line, and attacks vulnerable targets without taking on the role of a rigid spear or hoplite formation. It works best in conjunction with ranged fighters, chariots, or heavier troops, so that mobility and close-combat pressure do not dissipate in isolation.
