    Hintergrund & Einordnung

    The Amorites were nomadic tribal warriors of the Near East who were integrated into the city-state armies of Mesopotamia as mercenaries and levy troops in the 3rd and 2nd millennia BCE. Known by various names-Martu, Amurru, or Aamu-they formed the light infantry of numerous armies, including early Babylonian armies, where they were referred to as Sabum Qallatum. Armed with spears, javelins, and axes, as well as the typical Amorite shield made of animal hide on a wooden frame, they were versatile warriors on the battlefields of early antiquity.

    Einsatz im Spiel

    Amorite Levy Infantry I is used in Hail Caesar as mobile close combat or retinue infantry for Mesopotamian, Syrian, or Elamite Bronze Age city-state and palace armies. In the game, the unit occupies terrain, supports the main line, and attacks vulnerable targets, without taking on the role of a rigid spear or hoplite formation. It works best in conjunction with ranged units, chariots, or heavier troops, so that its mobility and close combat pressure are not wasted in isolation.
