Background & context

Der berittene Ritter war um 1415 noch der teuerste Soldat Europas, aber längst nicht mehr der entscheidende. Bei Agincourt versank der französische Reiterangriff im aufgeweichten Acker und lief sich am Pfahlhindernis der englischen Bogenschützen fest, danach kämpften die Männer-in-Waffen beider Seiten überwiegend zu Fuß. Im Feld blieben die Pferde trotzdem unverzichtbar: für Vorausabteilungen, Überfälle und die Verfolgung. Dafür stellten die Heere leichtere Reiter neben die Panzerreiter.

On the tabletop

The twelve mounted knights represent cavalry of the Hundred Years' War in the age of Agincourt. Up to six of them can be built as light horse, as mounted archers or sergeants. That gives you either a solid body of lance-armed cavalry for a charge like the French one at Agincourt, or a mixed detachment for vanguard, flank guard and pursuit. Against archers behind stakes you will need support from foot troops.
