Product details

Background & context

Concrete teeth and steel hedgehogs were part of the standard repertoire of field fortification in the Second World War. The rows of teeth on the Westwall and the Maginot Line were meant to make tanks belly out or to steer them into prepared fields of fire. The Czech hedgehogs came originally from the Czechoslovak border fortifications and later ended up in their thousands in the sand of Normandy. Both obstacles seldom stood alone; they stood where mines and anti-tank guns were already waiting.

On the tabletop

With 84 dragon's teeth in six shapes and nine Czech hedgehogs you can build beach obstacles and roadblocks. The included template helps you lay out the teeth in staggered rows, and you can mix intact and damaged shapes for sections that have already come under fire. Place the hedgehogs on the beach or across an approach so vehicles have to go around or clear the obstacle under fire. They are modelled on the West Wall's rows of teeth and the hedgehogs on the Normandy beaches.
