Product details

Background & context

The picket fence is the emblem of the civilian suburb: low enough to say hello over, high enough to mark the property. It stands in front of farmhouses, churches and small-town shops, from the 19th century to the present day. That very contrast is what makes it valuable on the table, because where soldiers advance through front gardens, the war becomes uncomfortably tangible. It also organises lines of sight and movement routes without blocking the table the way a wall does.

On the tabletop

Picket fences mark out front gardens by farmhouses, churches and shops and turn single buildings into a settlement. You get 105 mm sections for around 180 cm of fence plus 30 mm wide gates that can be built open or closed. Put the included sign post on its base at the edge of town or use it as an objective. On the table the low fences structure paths and sight lines through a small town.
