Product details

Background & context

Split-log fences belong wherever timber was cheaper than wire, from North America by way of eastern Europe to south-east Asia. They enclosed pastures, kept livestock off the fields and marked property boundaries without any need for a blacksmith. On the gaming table that carries over directly: a fence breaks the empty surface up into plots, gives movement a direction and turns a field into a landscape in which actions become believable in the first place.

On the tabletop

Log fences divide open countryside into pastures, fields and farm boundaries. Each section is 105 mm long, giving around 180 cm of fencing in total, and the 30 mm wide gates can be set open or closed. They give movement a direction, provide light cover along farm tracks and mark off areas a scenario needs. Fences like these suit North America as much as Eastern Europe or Southeast Asia.
