    Hintergrund & Einordnung

    The Army of the Republic of Vietnam (ARVN) served as South Vietnam's ground forces from 1955 until the Fall of Saigon in April 1975. At its peak, an estimated one in nine South Vietnamese citizens was conscripted, divided into regular forces and volunteer regional and popular militias. Initially closely aligned with the US as a post-colonial army, the ARVN underwent several transformations: from a defensive blocking force to a modern conventional force utilizing helicopter operations, and finally to an independent fighting force after Vietnamization. By 1974, it was considered by leading military advisors to be the second-best conventional armed force in the Free World.

    ARVN Infantry is the core troop type for South Vietnamese forces in the Vietnam setting. The units cover the entire spectrum - from regular line soldiers to Regional Forces and Popular Forces, which may differ in special characteristics and equipment. The multi-pose construction allows for varied troop formations that fit well with the asymmetric jungle battles of the Vietnam War. Ideal for scenarios where ARVN units operate alongside or instead of US forces.
