    Product details

    Background & context

The M40 Recoilless Rifle was an important weapon for the US armed forces in the post-war era and during the Cold War. The guns were used to engage infantry, vehicles, or fortified positions at a distance. In the tabletop context, the model represents recoilless anti-tank and fire support and adds a clearly recognizable support role to armies.

    On the tabletop

The M40 recoilless rifle is the anti-tank weapon of American infantry battalions in the Cold War and in Vietnam. It was built to fight vehicles, and with flechette rounds it also works against infantry in the open. Each shot sends a dangerous blast out behind the weapon, so you place it with clear space to its rear. You build the crew either firing or loading, and four figures and spare ammunition are included.
