Product details

Background & context

In the Late Bronze Age, light chariots evolved into powerful combat vehicles with reinforced bodies made of animal hides and bronze scales. The so-called Maryannu - the warrior chariot elite - served in almost all major powers of the Near East, from Mitanni to Middle Assyria and Kassite Babylonia, and even the Syrian-Canaanite city-states. This Type III chariot, with its 6-spoked wheels and armored horses, represents the most advanced variant of this weapon system and was ubiquitous on the battlefields of the Levant and Mesopotamia.

On the tabletop

Bronze scales on the side panels make this the best protected chariot of the range. Both horses are armoured too, and the wheels have six spokes. In Hail Caesar you use it for a late Maryannu chariot contingent such as Mitanni, Assyria, Babylonia or Elam could field. A driver and an archer are included, and a commander can replace the archer so that the chariot carries your general.
