Product details

Background & context

No other British tank was in the field in such numbers in 1940 as the Light Mk VI; over 1,300 had been built. A crew of three, two machine guns in the turret and armour proof against rifle bullets: there was not much more to it than that. In France the 1st Armoured Division equipped whole regiments with it because the cruiser tanks were still lacking, and lost them by the hundred in May and June 1940. In the desert the type hung on until 1941, then disappeared into training units.

On the tabletop

Each of the five light Vickers tanks can be built in one of two versions: the Mk VIB with a heavy 12.7 mm Vickers machine gun, or the Mk VIC with the more powerful 15 mm Besa. In Flames of War they form a British tank troop for the fighting in France in 1940 and in the desert. They are fast but armoured only against rifle fire, so use them for scouting, flank protection and against infantry and light vehicles. Keep them away from enemy tanks.
